Personal note: These willow charcoals are seriously impressive. What I like most is how well they match the depth and intensity of General’s charcoal pencils and compressed charcoal. It creates a consistent look across different charcoal mediums, making it easy to switch between them while maintaining the same rich, dark tones.

Additional note: I’ve tried several willow charcoals before, but General’s stands out for its deep, bold blacks and the way it still leaves a good amount of tone even after erasing—something I personally prefer. (All willow charcoal is naturally easy to smudge; what really matters is the strength of the darks, and General’s definitely delivers.)
